Level 1 Certification Course - 2 Day Course

Mobility is more than just flexibility. Mobility is the client’s ability to actively control their body parts through range. Therefore, it includes flexibility, but also strength and motor control. Could your clients do with more mobility?

Stick Mobility is a movement system utilising a flexible but sturdy stick to improve mobility through active stretching. The Stick assists clients to get further into range by using the leverage of the Stick, and then we can utilise the Stick to engage the tissues in their lengthened position. This can help to safely build strength and control in elongated positions, and potentially make your clients more resilient.

Our courses will provide attendees with a solid foundation of exercise options. By learning the principles of the Stick Mobility system, the exercise applications are endless. Group Fitness Instructors can conduct stand-alone Stick Mobility classes or utilise certain Stick Mobility exercises in conjunction with other modalities.

Course outline:
  • Introduction to Stick Mobility principles of leverage, stability, proprioception (feedback and co-ordination), irradiation (recruitment of neighbouring muscles) and isometric strengthening, fascial mobilisation and combinations of the above
  • Introduction to the concept of partner exercises
  • Run through of 2 x 1 hour Stick Mobility class examples for those who wish to run Group Exercise sessions
  • Practice teaching Stick Mobility exercises to fellow attendees

Allied Health Practitioner - 1 Day Course

It is not necessarily difficult to improve your patient’s mobility within a treatment session, but is their improvement lasting? Stick Mobility is the perfect accompaniment to your manual therapy techniques. Get your patient off the table and let them further improve their mobility in an active way. Lock in their changes with some strengthening isometric activity, so there is more likelihood of the gains being maintained.

The Stick Mobility principles combine lengthening and strengthening with simple exercises and are a valuable addition to your treatment toolkit.

Course outline:

This course teaches the principles behind the Stick Mobility system, as well as showcasing simple, super-effective exercises for:

  • core control,
  • hip and shoulder mobility and strength,
  • thoracic mobility and
  • some examples of whole-body fascial chain exercises.

It will give practitioners a range of mobility options for patients of all ages and abilities, with exercises easily able to be progressed or regressed depending on each patient’s needs. Stick Mobility in your clinic - it really is “Movement Made Better”.
